Style tips from the week's best dressed

Want to develop your denim habits like Dree, or bring the holiday vibe to the high street like Fearne? Here's how…

Introduce your midi to ankle socks
Nobody rocks an ankle sock and midi-skirt with quite as much elegance as London Fashion Week ambassador, Laura Bailey, but don't be afraid to try this look at home. Ankle socks neatly fill the oddly proportioned gap between your feet and your hemline that a midi creates. Just make sure you're wearing a heel.

Cut some slack
She may be in character on the set of her latest film 'Can A Song Change Your Life?', but that doesn't stop us lusting after Keira Knightley 's mannish slacks. Rolled up, high-waited and paired with flat loafers, she perfectly channels the Katharine Hepburn look. Maybe you should hire the film's stylist, Keira?

Pretend you're on holiday
Can't get to Saint Tropez? Bring Saint Tropez to you like Fearne Cotton who brought her holiday look to the high street in style. Remember though, we're talking Brigitte Bardot chic here, not bikini tops and flip-flops.

Channel the super-sweet Seventies
The Seventies are making a big comeback for autumn, but get a head start on the trend like Rinko Kikuchi in a high-waisted shorts and tucked-in blouse combo. Remember to pair with suitably solid heels or wedges - this look is not about a stiletto heel ladies.

Weather-proof your look
The sun might have briefly got its hat on, but with weather this schizophrenic it's good to be prepared. Poppy Delevingne nods to summer in her Karl leather shorts, but keeps one foot in thereal world in her heavy boots, slouchy knit and floppy wool hat.

Bring on the cocktails!
Make a summery statement in the city in one of this season's totally tropical prints like Kate Bosworth . All this outfit needs is a Pina Colada and she could be in Jamaica.

Make your outfit do the work
Zoe Saldana 's cotton shirt and skirt make for a great lunch look. The suede ankle boots keep it casual and if you nipped home and swapped them for a pair of chunky heels you could head straight out for the evening.

Navy and black make the perfect pair
From her kooky turban down to her toes, artist and former girlfriend of Ronnie Wood, Ana Araujo , looks chic in satin navy and black blowing apart the myth that they are two colours that shouldn't be seen together.
Wear your denim with flare
You might not be able to part with your skinny jeans entirely, but look how fresh model Dree Hemingway makes these denim flares look. The secret ingredients are a high waistline, a slim-fitting top (tucked in) and some high wedges or boots underneath to add those vital extra inches.

Fashion's hidden sporting talents

As London gets into the Olympic spirit we reveal some of the hidden sporting talents of fashion's biggest stars.

Model Christy Turlington is a yoga enthusiast - she's realeased yoga wear lines with Puma and even written a book about practising the art.
Paul Smith dreamed of being a competitive cyclist until an injury put paid to his plans and he decided to pursue fashion. He now regularly dresses Olympic cyclists Sir Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins for formal occassions.
Model Soo Yeon Lee is a table tennis champion. She began training aged nine and quickly won major titles in competitions for her age group. She was later spotted as a model and now combines both disciplines, appearing here in a short film by Matthew Donaldson.
US Vogue editor Anna Wintour famously plays tennis every morning before work. She's a friend of world champion Roger Federer and is often seen supporting him at major tournaments.
Bridal designer Vera Wang began figure skating at the age of six and later competed in the 1968 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. She decided to make her way into the fashion world after failing to get into the US Olympic team.
Baby-faced Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova ran the Paris half-marathon earlier this year in aid of her charity, The Naked Heart Foundation, and still managed to walk in the Givenchy show on the same evening. That's dedictaion.
Shoe designer Christian Louboutin took up the trapeze after watching the film 'Wings of Desire'. He now has one installed in his atelier so the he can trapeze to his hearts desire whenever he may please.
Our favourite crazy fashion lady, Anna Dello Russo , swims every morning, which probably explains her incredibly lithe physique. According to this photo, which she posted on her blog, she likes to wear flippers
Jodie Kidd 's hobbies include polo, motor car racing, golf, and horse riding. She's taken part in several Gumball 3000 rallies and is apparently an expert polo player thanks to her polo-playing father, brother and boyfriend.
Dutch Victoria's Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes aspired to be a speed skater when she was growing up and competed around Europe before she started to model. She appeared in US Vogue's 2008 Shape Issue alongside world champion in the sport, Apolo Anton Ohno.

Trending: little red dresses

Move over LBD, this season it's all about the LRD (Little Red Dress), the red carpet's new best friend...

Chloe Moretz looks so ladylike in Calvin Klein, it's hard to believe she's only 15 years old.
Chunky heels and a decent sized handbag are all you need to take your LRD from day to night like Miranda Kerr .
Lana Del Rey braved the British weather at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in this red puffball mini.

At the Victoria Secret 'What Is Sexy Now' party in Los Angeles, Doutzen Kroes made sure she stood out amongst the other Angels in this red ruched mini.
There was much speculation as to what The Duchess of Cambridge would wear for her appearance alongside the Queen at the Diamond Jubilee. Whilst this Alexander McQueen outfit was a bold choice, the colour lends an air of confidence and Kate looks entirely at ease.
The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence shows off her tanned and toned figure in a lacy Marchesa dress.
Super short, sheer and scarlet, this lacy minidress may not be for the faint-hearted but then Valentino is catering for a special type of lady. If you're a long-limbed and slim supermodel-type, this pre-fall dress could be the LRD for you.
A little red dress can be girly as well as sexy, as Ginnifer Goodwin proved at Comic Con earlier this month.
When it comes to matching your make-up to your little red dress, nude lips are the obvious choice. But why not try something different? Kate Bosworth plumped for a blood orange shade at this year's Sundance Film Festival and added shoes to match.

The Browser: Summer Workwear

Stumped as what to wear to the office in this new-found summer weather? Look no further for wardrobe inspiration.

When the heat is on, a pencil skirt can be especially restricting. A pleated style is a breezier summer option, but still slick enough for the office.
Two-in-one dresses work best when you have contrasting textures, like this cotton cardie and voile skirt. Add statement jewellery for extra impact.
Adopt a new approach to tailoring: a mismatched suit of clashing prints and colours will jazz up the nine-to-five run.
Adding a little sparkle to a daytime look makes desk-to-drinks dressing a doddle. Complete the transition with heels and a clutch bag.
Team bold, printed pieces with simple wardrobe classics. Don't skimp on the basics, though, as these will be your daily wear.
