The Philip Somerville hat worn by Kate in 2008
Two hats worn by Catherine,
the Duchess of Cambridge before she was
married have sold at auction for three times their guide price.
The Duchess rented the hats for around £100 each from Get Ahead Hats in
Reading for two separate occasions, and both were expected to sell for
£1,000-£1,500 each.

The hats were part of the 'Passion for Fashion' auction held by Kerry
Taylor, the same auction house which sold the now-infamous see-through
dress Kate sported at a University of St Andrews fashion show for
£78,000 last year.
The Duchess of Cambridge wears an Emilia Wickstead dress, worth over £1,000, to two events within weeks of one another
If there's a right amount to spend on clothes when you're married to a
future king, the lack of outrage surrounding the news of the Duchess of
Cambridge's expenditure in the past five months suggests that £35,000
for the year so far is probably it.
