Trending: Leather trousers

One of the trickiest trends of the year - not least because of their 'sausage leg' and 'lady of the night' connotations - fashion's movers and shakers are loving leather-look trousers this autumn.

New York's current street style guru, Miranda Kerr , stepped out in leather trousers and a host of chic accessories this autumn, with son, Flynn, in tow.
Luxe leather was the order of the day at Valentino 's A/W '12 show; with the texture trend extending from trousers to full-on jumpsuits.
Sticking to his signature style, Gareth Pugh 's A/W '12 collection saw models encased in tight leather trousers and much structured, dark tailoring on top.
Navy and red stripes marry well with leather drainpipe trousers on this Milan S/S '13 show goer.
Not one to shy away from the more 'out-there' end of the trend spectrum, pop star Rihanna embraced the tricky, wide-leg leather trouser look when in New York this winter.
Alexander Wang showcased some leather-panelled, tapered trousers, cut neatly to sit on the models' ankles, in his A/W '12 collection.
Derek Lam channelled cowboy chaps, and offset them against delicate sandals and plain tops, for his monochrome-hued A/W '12 collection.
Model Jessica Hart teamed her leather trousers with Breton stripes and a slouchy trench coat, for a modern take on a couple of classics.

Trending: Side-swept hair

There's a pics show going on for hair right now; and it's universally flattering, as long as your pick your best side. So do as the celebrities and catwalk models are doing this season and support the new one-sided argument.

Scarlett Johansson reinvents her hair again, but of course doesn't stray far from her signature Forties finish by working those wavy gravy curls into the lengths.
Kristen Stewart has made the laissez-faire side sweep part of her style DNA.
Kate Bosworth knows that the secret to making a less than full head of hair look thicker, is to sweep its entirety over to one side.
The Lanvin catwalk is always one show to watch if you want to predict trends. Take note not just of the graphic black liner, but also the considered side-sweep, made more modern by the low maintenance fly-aways, which both made their way from runway to real life with aplomb this season.

X Factor fashion hits and misses: week seven, 2012

From Nicole's sexy Smurfette tribute, to Dermot's MC Hammer pants,we round up the sartorial highs and lows from week seven of the X Factor live shows.

Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole was working a sexy Smurfette look on Saturday night in a white dress resembling a tiny paper aeroplane and blue shoes from the land that fashion forgot. Sunday night, well, the kindest thing we can say is that if anyone could pull off this tacky-tastic gown, it's Nicole Scherzinger.
 Tulisa
That Tulisa LOVES a bit of lace doesn't she? Well, s'classy innit? Saturday's get up was bordering on Jane McDonald, while Sunday was more WTF than WAF.

Gary Barlow
Loving Gary's bushy beardy look - perfectly offset by his Rupert The Bear-esque suit on Saturday, right at home in his double-breasted jackety number on Sunday.
 Louis Walsh
Louis, just get a suit that fits, and a suit that matches and you'll be set every weekend.

Dermot O'Leary
You can't touch Dermot when it comes to tip-top tailoring. So much so, we've already forgotten those silver MC Hammer pants.

Fifty ways with grey from Union J this week. They made for a suave bunch on the whole, but it's minus points for the obligatory boy band boots , boys.

Even a sprinkle of golden glamour couldn't save bella Ella from an untimely departure. Goodbye last of the ladies, you will be missed.

From show-stopping, see-through gowns to understated, chic looks, see 'Skyfall' Bond girls Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe take on the global promotional tour for the latest James Bond film in style.

A Ports 1961 navy wool coat and matching trousers gave Bérénice Marlohe an entirely different look for the Berlin photocall for 'Skyfall'.
With her hair piled on top of her head and signature smouldering eyes Bérénice Marlohe looked stunning for the Berlin premiere, in a black, one strap, structured ruffle gown, by Giorgio Armani.
Meanwhile in Amsterdam, Bérénice Marlohe accentuated her tiny waist with a simple, body-conscious dress.
A feather embellished, figure-hugging black gown gave Bérénice Marlohe a sultry look at an Omega 007 event in Japan.
The Australian premiere of 'Skyfall' saw Naomie Harris step out in a one-shoulder, midnight blue, silk gown by Maison Martin Margiela, embellished with elegant Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

Kristen Stewart's 'Twilight' style evolution

As the promotional tour of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' ensues, take a look at Kristen Stewart's fashion hits and misses over the years.

Back in 2008 when the 'Twilight Saga' hit London for the first premiere, Kristen Stewart opted for a rather shiny, one-shoulder black dress by La Perla.
The promotional tour of 'Eclipse' in 2010 also saw an excess of red carpet looks, including this black and blue Versace mini.
For the 'Twilight' photo call, at the 3rd Rome International Film Festival, the actress cut a casual look in a Derek Lam tunic dress and vintage leather jacket.
The LA premiere of 'Twilight', in November 2008, saw Kristen embrace a splash of colour, in a one-shoulder white and red Balenciaga dress with sheer black over lay.
A newly cropped Kristen hit a 'Twilight' fan event in Spain, donning a punky, pleated look by Balenciaga, in 2009.
An Elizabeth and James dress with leather and chiffon detailing gave the 'Twilight' star a sassy vibe at a 'New Moon' photocall, in 2009.
A zany Proenza Schouler number helped Kristen stand out at a 'New Moon' fan party, in 2009.
The Paris 'New Moon' photo call saw the actress keep it pale and interesting in a J. Mendel dress and nude Sergio Rossi peep toe heels.
A ruffled Kristen dipped her toe in Valentino's sulty green colour palette for her 'New Moon' promotion stint in New York.
It was a moody teen, however, that modelled this stunning Oscar de la Renta gown at the 'New Moon' LA film premiere, in 2009.

Beauty blunder of the week: make-up overload

As often witnessed on the red carpet, our love affair with make-up can sometimes go horribly wrong - wearing a little bit too much slap, here are the offending few who could do with a make-under.

Too much too soon. Unfortunately for Kelly Osbourne's her younger awkward stage is recorded in pictures; and that includes the bit when she played haphazardly in her mother's make up kit, and for way too long.
Stare at the sun tanning gun too long Lauren Goodger and it actually blinds us all - your make-up artist so much so they misfired with the red lipstick (teeth Lauren, teeth).
With this amount of war paint on Tyra Banks has no intention of making up gently.
Whoever your make-up genie with a bottle of foundation is Christina Aguilera , they need to learn the art of restraint.
Molly Sims looks just as embarrassed as we are about her blush abuse.
Nicole Kidman 's penchant for Touche Eclat turned into a rather chalky affair.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Kristen Stewart dazzled at the L.A premiere of the last Twilight Saga instalment, as she was reunited with co-star and real-life lover Robert Pattinson.

Kristen Stewart looked demure in a nude corseted gown with lace and chiffon panelling by Zuhair Murad.
'Mad Men' actress Kiernan Shipka in a pleated dress with sheer shoulder lining and pink peep toe heels.
Robert Pattinson stood out from the crowd in striking green and black micro h
Sporting shiny new brown tresses, Dakota Fanning cut a fresh figure in a draped teal couture gown by Elie Saab.
Sister Elle Fanning sported a pink satin look and some quirky footwear from the Prada S/S '13 collection
Nikki Reed opted for a light-grey strapless gown with silver hoop detailing, courtesy of Versace, and carried a metallic box clutch by Judith Leiber.
Ashley Greene looked positively ethereal in a blush-coloured, one-shoulder gown by Donna Karan.
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan in a Simone Rocha baby dot, open dot and tulle apron dress.
Actress Maggie Grace in an elegant emerald gown with diamond embellishment and black ribbon waist detailing.
