Trending: Leather trousers

One of the trickiest trends of the year - not least because of their 'sausage leg' and 'lady of the night' connotations - fashion's movers and shakers are loving leather-look trousers this autumn.

New York's current street style guru, Miranda Kerr , stepped out in leather trousers and a host of chic accessories this autumn, with son, Flynn, in tow.
Luxe leather was the order of the day at Valentino 's A/W '12 show; with the texture trend extending from trousers to full-on jumpsuits.
Sticking to his signature style, Gareth Pugh 's A/W '12 collection saw models encased in tight leather trousers and much structured, dark tailoring on top.
Navy and red stripes marry well with leather drainpipe trousers on this Milan S/S '13 show goer.
Not one to shy away from the more 'out-there' end of the trend spectrum, pop star Rihanna embraced the tricky, wide-leg leather trouser look when in New York this winter.
Alexander Wang showcased some leather-panelled, tapered trousers, cut neatly to sit on the models' ankles, in his A/W '12 collection.
Derek Lam channelled cowboy chaps, and offset them against delicate sandals and plain tops, for his monochrome-hued A/W '12 collection.
Model Jessica Hart teamed her leather trousers with Breton stripes and a slouchy trench coat, for a modern take on a couple of classics.

Trending: Side-swept hair

There's a pics show going on for hair right now; and it's universally flattering, as long as your pick your best side. So do as the celebrities and catwalk models are doing this season and support the new one-sided argument.

Scarlett Johansson reinvents her hair again, but of course doesn't stray far from her signature Forties finish by working those wavy gravy curls into the lengths.
Kristen Stewart has made the laissez-faire side sweep part of her style DNA.
Kate Bosworth knows that the secret to making a less than full head of hair look thicker, is to sweep its entirety over to one side.
The Lanvin catwalk is always one show to watch if you want to predict trends. Take note not just of the graphic black liner, but also the considered side-sweep, made more modern by the low maintenance fly-aways, which both made their way from runway to real life with aplomb this season.
