Alongside Ms Thurman, we also expect to see Tilda Swinton, Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks, Penélope Cruz and Rachel McAdams cutting a dash as they promote their latest films at the event. Hopefully the latter will concoct enough razzle dazzle to gloss over the fact that a certain Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the elegant 'First Lady' of France who has a small role in Woody Allen's new picture Midnight in Paris , will be absent from the festival altogether.
