Oscars 2012: Red carpet fashion best dressed - 2

OCTAVIA SPENCER
'The Help' actress isn't your average Hollywood starlet, but her fashionable relationship with designer Tadashi Shoji has meant that her curves are no hindrance to shining in style on the red carpet.

KATE MARA
What's not to love about Kate Mara's girlie, dusky, flower-embellished gown by Jack Guisso Couture. We think the unusual sleeve could be a bit of a hindrance when it comes to maneuvering a trip to the loo, but we kind of like it.

LI BING BING
Chinese actress and singer Li Bing Bing looked resplendent in this strapless white gown. The coquettish sheer panel snaking up the side of the leg had nothing desperate about it either. Oh, and can anyone believe that this woman is actually 38?!

GLENN CLOSE
Best actress nominee Glenn Close looks the business in this blazer-topped Zac Posen dress and she knows it. This elegant hue and flattering neckline clinched Close's place in our best-dressed list.

SANDRA BULLOCK
Proving that monochrome and gold make a winning combination, Sandra Bullock gets it totally right in her go-to red carpet label: Marchesa.

ROSE BYRNE
Shining like a dazzling disco ball, we bring you Rose Byrne, in Vivienne Westwood. We hope she got to throw a few shapes in this dress…

JANE SEYMOUR
Although British actress Jane Seymour looks ever so slightly like she could be the in-house entertainment on a cruise ship, we love this fun get-up. Plus, how may 61-year-olds are in circulation looking so fantastic?

CHARLENE, PRINCESS OF MONACO
Charlene's Akris gown isn't going to win any awards for innovation, but she does look splendid. It's incredible how elegant a high-necked collar can be.

JANET MCTEER
Bolstering the ladies in red bridgade, British actress Janet McTeer looked the picture of seduction in this plunging floor-sweeper of a gown.

LOUISE ROE
We ummed and ahhed for a while, but we've decided to embrace Louise Roe's Black Halo dress. The blush hue and structured skirting set it distinctly apart from the rest.

KELLY OSBOURNE
We're not used to saying it, but we actually like what Kelly Osbourne is wearing. The Badgley Mischka perfectly slinked around her slim hips.

GIULIANA RANCIC
E! Entertainment host Giuliana Rancic's hairstyle might have been severe, but her delicate Tony Ward gown was anything but.

MERYL STREEP
Did Meryl look to the famous Oscar statue for sartorial inspiration? No, in fact she joined Livia Firth in her Green Carpet Challenge and wore French fashion house Lanvin's first ever custom-made eco gown made specifically by the great couture house for the GCC.
LIVIA FIRTH
The Green Carpet Challenge crusader looked resplendent in a red Valentino gown made of recycled polyester from plastic bottles.
