Royal wedding: the best of styles, the worst of styles

Guests at the Abbey included Samanatha and David Cameron,
Princess Anne and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice

Weddings constitute a great British spectator sport; royal wedding s multiply it to the power of two billion viewers.
And what a day it was, with the best - and the worst - of the rag trade of Britain and the world on display.
Among the most hotly anticipated players, Ma Middleton was a muted presence in Diana, Princess of Wales's beloved Catherine Walker: uncontroversial, not too mumsy and - blessedly - not too "come fly with me" so no fear of anyone hollering: "Carriages to manual."
The lovely, lachrymose Duchess of Cornwall scrubbed up nicely in favourite Anna Valentine. The Queen sported lemon curd yellow in order to be locatable, while the thrifty Princess Royal - who looks so dashing in uniform - appeared to have recycled a pair of curtains.
